"Lock window width" locks the width of the window.
"Smart cut and paste" makes cut and paste functions more intelligent (an extra space is inserted/removed when needed).
If "Font in menu" is checked, the font-menu is build at startup. Unfortunately, it takes several seconds to build the menu on systems with many fonts. The default setting is therefore to build the font-menu the first time it's needed.
"ESC = Quit" means that the key <esc> can be used to quit the application.
If "Standard Zoom" is checked standard zooming is used, otherwise the zoom-function will be extended. With extended zooming, a click in the window's zoom box toggles between two different sizes. If the <command>-key is pressed, standard zooming is always performed.
